“Cool!” She smiled slightly and bowed her head, feeling the instant awkwardness. “Uhmm, I’m glad he didn’t kill the both of you.” She took a long drag off of her cigarette, inhaling and then exhaling. ‘Reminder, let’s not make this a habit.’ Lindsay watched as Daniel and Kim, of course, began to make out on the hood of his car which led Nick and Lindsay standing there. What is she expected to do? In this moment, she hoped the pot lover in Nick would already suggest that they open up the goods and smoke the night away.

“So, uh, how are things back at your house? My dad misses having somebody to talk music to, even though you work at his store.” The brunette tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and kept on smoking her cigarette until it became just a cherry. She pulled on her jacket and looked around. ‘This party could take place anywhere…’ Lindsay turned her attention to Kim and Daniel, the non-stop kissing, fighting, breaking up couple. “Hey guys, why just limit ourselves to Kim’s house? Why not go out on the town or something?”

She heard Lindsay’s voice cut through the night air. Slowly, she tore her mouth away from her boyfriend’s, leaving soft kisses along his jaw before turning to gaze at the other girl. “I like your style, Linds,” she muttered.

Kim used the back of her hand to wipe away the saliva which Daniel had left at the corner of her mouth and silently she contemplated the proposal. A night on the town could be amusing, but there was always the potential of getting into a world of trouble. It had happened countless times in the past. Lindsay, however, wasn’t aware of said times because she hadn’t ever been around to experience them. But Kim knew the dangers and she knew how wild Daniel was when he was high and drinking. The same went for Nick.

"Pray tell, what exactly would we do in town?" Kim questioned as she leaned her head against Daniel’s shoulder. "It’s late right now, everything is closed and the last time we tried to get into a club we were caught…. What do you think about Lindsay’s idea, loser?" she asked and lightly nudged her boyfriend in the side.

After minutes of sitting next to Kim, with the smoke blowing Lindsay’s way, she stopped fighting it and decided to just go with the flow. “Yeah.” The brunette looked over at her friend and nodded slightly. “It is pretty cool that he’d do something like that but don’t you worry? I mean, he could get caught or something. Then you, a wise blonde haired friend once told me that Daniel knows how to get out of whatever predicament he’s in. Of course I kind of paraphrased that but you get the point.” She laughed.

Lindsay’s eyes widened when Kim offered her a cigarette . She wasn’t sure what to say. Yes, she’s smoked and it was okay, excluding her experience with marijuana. She looked down at her shoes and shrugged “sure, why not?” Once Kim handed her a cigarette, Lindsay being unsure of what brand, she held it in-between her lips and inhaled as Kim lit it for her.

"Exactly. Daniel doesn’t ever get into trouble, but when he does he knows how to get out of it." Kim shrugged her shoulders as she leaned over, helping Lindsay light her cigarette. "Honestly I never really worry about him. He’s a big boy and he can take care of his own issues."

The blonde nudged her friend lightly, grinning as she gazed at her. “Look at you, Brain.  Smoking a cigarette and spending the night with the bad kids. I never would have thought that you had it in ya.”

A screeching sound tore through the air and Kim rose her head to look out at the street. Speeding far above the limit came Daniel’s car, and absentmindedly Kim began to comb through her hair. She never went out of her way to get dolled up and if anybody ever asked her if she tried to impress her boyfriend she would deny it. However, deep down she knew that she tried, desperately so, to keep him interested.

Kim stood up as the car pulled to the curb by her house. She threw her cigarette to the ground and folded her arms against her chest. The moment he stepped out of the vehicle she muttered, “hey, loser, you’re going to get arrested speeding like that.”

Teenage Wasteland: The Party || Freaks

Kim sat on the curb outside of her house waiting for her friends to arrive. Her arms were crossed against her body, tucked inside her sweatshirt. It was cold outside, colder than usual. Autumn had finally reared it’s head. The grounds were frosted every morning and the leaves…

"Yeah, you’re the first one, Brain." Kim smiled as she looked at her shoes. In all honesty she had hoped that Daniel would be the first to arrive. He had all of the goods. For some reason she was feeling tense. Lighting up and smoking her way into a carefree attitude was exactly what she needed.

"Daniel is getting everything for the party which is why he isn’t here yet." She wasn’t exactly sure whether or not that was the reason, but she said it regardless. "It’s really cool of him to go snag that stuff, ya know? Not every guy would do that. He didn’t even ask for money."

Kim grinned as she sucked in a lungful of smoke. Blue eyes grew wide when she realized how “impolite” she was being. “Linds, you want a cigarette? I can’t believe I didn’t offer one. I’m just, like, the worst hostess ever.” She laughed and held the carton out to her friend.

Kim sat on the curb outside of her house waiting for her friends to arrive. Her arms were crossed against her body, tucked inside her sweatshirt. It was cold outside, colder than usual. Autumn had finally reared it’s head. The grounds were frosted every morning and the leaves were already beginning to turn.

Deciding that now would be the right time for one, Kim pushed her arms out her sleeves so that she could get ahold of the cigarette pack in her front pocket.

The blonde ducked her head and sniffed lightly as she lit the end.

Tonight was going to be good, right? Her mother wasn’t home to ruin anything. There would be no yelling, no hitting, no restlessness. Just her and her friends doing what teenagers do best.

Kim sucked greedily at the filtered end and absentmindedly blew the smoke out from between her full lips. In her mind she said a silent prayer to any god listening for her mother to never come back. She could manage things on her own. It would be easier, that’s for sure…
